The Hybrid III 50th FAA dummy is a 50th dummy based on the height and weight of adult males in the United States, combined with the range of motion, center of gravity, and weight of various parts of the body defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers in anthropometric research to simulate the weight of human subjects. The FAA dummy adopts the standard components of Hybrid II and Hybrid III ATD, with the main design goal of creating a Hybrid III dummy that will generate the same lumbar spin
Structure:
The Hybrid III 50th percentile FAA dummy is essentially composed of a Hybrid III 50th percentile dummy, with the non Hybrid III portion consisting of a Hybrid II chest jacket (modified), abdomen, and thigh skeleton. Replace the lumbar spine with a hybrid type II lumbar spine mounted on a counterweight, which can be replaced with a lumbar force sensor. These changes make the mass distribution of the hybrid III 50th percentile dummy consistent with that of the hybrid II dummy, and enable the hybrid II dummy to perform torso bending tests. The seated dummy is a modular structure that allows for easy replacement of the dummy's components.

The FAA test dummy, as a substitute for real humans in the field of aerospace testing, is used to measure the mechanical response of various parts of the human body in ordinary and transport aircraft, as well as ordinary and transport rotary wing aircraft. It is helpful for research in the aerospace field and assists in the development of aviation protective and lifesaving equipment.
The FAA test dummy is designed based on the height and weight of the 50th percentile adult male in the United States, and its structure is basically the same as the Hybrid III 50th percentile dummy. Some structures adopt the hybrid II structural form, while the non hybrid III parts include the hybrid II chest jacket (modified), abdomen, lumbar spine, and thigh skeleton. Adjusting the "relaxed sitting position" of the hybrid III car collision test dummy to an "upright sitting position" can better study the vertical response and obtain test data that is more in line with the working conditions in the field.
